Etihad Airways based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is the flag carrier. Its main base is Abu Dhabi International Airport, and operates flights to the Middle East, North America, Africa, Europe, Far East, and Oceania. The airline was founded in July 2003, with Abu Dhabi as its hub. It currently flies to 43 destinations and plans to expandto 70 destinations in the coming two years. A subsidiary of the airline, Etihad Crystal Cargo, operates air cargo services.

Etihad Airways has unveiled details at the Dubai Air Show of a major investment programme to upgrade its expanding fleet, awarding Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) contracts to upgrade seating and in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems in the airline’s fleet of six Boeing B777 aircraft and 10 of the airline’s Airbus A320s.
