Job Description :- This role is available to Hong Kong residents or to those who have the right to work in Hong Kong.
- As an Application Manager,you are responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of the applications withn your domain. This includes understanding how and how well the business is supported by the systems in your area and, subsequently engaging with other teams within Information Management Department driving improvements across a broad range of metrics, including breadth of functional capability, technical health, cost effectiveness and performance. Your input will have significant influence on the application roadmap and the projects to be submitted for funding. You will have significant accountability for the operational health of the in-production systems and for working with the business to manager end-to-end process and data issues.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Direction and Standards- Contribute to developing the overall IT investment plan and assist in prioritization, primarily for business units supported by your solution centre but also for business units that your systems impact
- Oversee the execution of the application roadmap within your domain and measure the overall health of your application portfolio both in terms of how well the business is supported in executing its roles and also technological health and cost effectiveness
- Work with the architecture group to plan, direct and manage the exploitation of current installed technology and capability to enable reuse and to reduce the need to implement new standalone packages
Application and Data Ownership- Develop and maintain knowledge of key systems and technologies utilized in your domain
- Keep abreast of the technology roadmaps for the applications with your domain and how upgrades and updates can benefit the enterprise
- Work with the business units to assign application and data ownership and work with other application managers and enterprise architecture to improve the flow of data across the organization
Solution Formulation and Delivery- Oversee the end-to-end solution delivery and subsequent support of solutions within your domain
- Understand business requirements, identify and formulate cost effective solutions to business problems.
- Work with other IT teams to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and leverage existing capabilities where possible
- Manage the delivery solutions/projects on time and budget
- Ensure solutions are delivered in accordance with our policies and standards
- Ensure solutions are delivered that enable on-going support in a cost efficient manner
Human Resource Management- Build and manage a team with a core set of skills to enable the organization to exploit its installed and future technology
- Develop, motivate, coach appropriate staff to achieve excellent levels of performance. Develop a succession plan
Vendor Management- Manage vendors in the delivery of cost effective and timely systems development and support
- Work with vendors continue to bring relevant technical skills and innovation in your domain to Cathay Pacific
Financial Management- Manage service delivery within agreed budgets
Job Requirements :- A minimum of 12 years of IT experience with 2 years of management experience
- Tertiary qualifications
- Proven experience in managing a team of technology professionals (that include in-house, external, off-shore resources) to run strategic IT projects and support IT systems
- Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally and in written formats to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver presentations
- Strong interpersonal skills; promoting healthy relationships and team dynamics
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting skills; ability to identify patterns and generate ideas
- Focus on the end user’s or customer’s needs; ability to set expectations and understand end user behavior
- Solid experience in business analysis, software development and project management
- Good understanding of technology concepts, trends and capabilities
