Job Description :
  • We are looking for a high calibre candidate to join us as the Head of Technical Services within Cathay Engineering.  This is a key leadership role responsible for managing and enhancing the reliability and technical performance of the fleets of aircraft for the Cathay Pacific Group of airlines and leading a team of approximately 60 staff.  The successful appointee will also be the Head of Design Organisation under HKAR Part 21, managing the Design Organisation in accordance with the Part 21 requirements.
  • As the Head of Technical Services, he/she will be expected to act as a change agent, initiating and driving new strategies, processes, projects and performance measures to improve the impact/contribution of Technical Services in ensuring the safe, compliant and reliable operation of the fleet. Developing strong, collaborative relationships with other sections, suppliers, airline departments and HKCAD will also be critical to this role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a clear section strategy and oversee the execution of this strategy – ensuring alignment with Engineering’s ‘strategy-on-a-page’
  • Drive process quality and efficiencies improvements to productivity within the section
  • Oversee / improve robust and effective reliability management, maintenance and repair requirement management and maintenance program development
  • Ensure that robust AD and MOR processes are in place to eliminate safety risk
  • Manage the aircraft modification budget to provide cost effective reliability/safety enhancement
  • Embed a value-based decision-making culture in the section - to promote strategies and decisions that focus on delivering optimal benefits to the airline; for example; increasing aircraft availability
  • Ensure that the Design Organisation complies with regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical expertise inputs to the rest of the organisation including other Engineering sections, Flight Operations, Line and Heavy Maintenance teams etc
  • Ensure that synergy is derived through strong collaboration between the various teams in Technical Services, and with the other sections in Engineering
  • Lead, motivate and inspire a team of around 60 staff in Hong Kong
  • Build a high performance culture, taking overall accountability for the performance of the section
  • Contribute effectively as a member of the ELG team, taking collective responsibility  for department-wide and airline-wide programmes and projects
  • Develop staff and successors through advice, coaching and on-the-job / other training
Job Requirements :
  • Proven management experience of complex service-oriented engineering operations
  • As the Head of Design Organisation, the incumbent must be degree holder in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Minimum 12-14 years experience in aircraft maintenance, engineering or planning
  • Polished and effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • In-depth professional knowledge of aircraft engineering field
  •  Good command of spoken & written English
