Job Description :

Key Responsibilities:
  • Allocates resources and responsibilities within own area to deliver required results around cost, quality and time
  • Lever key technical skills to ensure the IT infrastructure asset technical design meets the business requirements and are in line with industry standards
  • Provide revision and signoff on IT infrastructure design documents, which meets the solution design requirements, are in line with the infrastructure standards and allows for a smooth build / implementation process to occur
  • Provide guidance and leading the team on the technical design phase to ensure smooth implementation during the build phase and operational transition into Service and Operations
  • Develops the performance and competency of the team through expert coaching and mentoring of the Technical Architect team members
  • Uses appropriate processes and tools to create systems, or services, on a technical infrastructure which supports business demands, which are resilient, secure and highly available
  • Develops and implements continuous improvement initiatives within own area in line with a High Performing Team
  • Ensures the infrastructure team fully understands, follows and champions the technology standards and patterns as defined within Information Management
  • Defines and champions the use of the infrastructure standards, procedures and best practice within the team
  • Monitors and ensures compliance to corporate control standards for quality and security
  • Takes responsibility for implementation of the technical part of plans, focusing on requirements and planning to meet or exceed internal client expectations
  • Interface with other IT areas, sharing technical knowledge and expertise, and resolving issues as necessary, using specialist information to enable others to deliver
  • Provide technical leadership and escalation support for the resolution of incidents and problems within the staging and test environments
  • Provides expert level support in the area of technical specialization, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution of challenges
  • Proactively draw out all types of requirements on the IT Infrastructure from stakeholders by using a variety of elicitation techniques (e.g. interviewing, modelling, and surveying)
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details and distinguish users requests from the underlying business problems
  • Obtain requirements signoff from both business and Information Management (IM) Stakeholders
  • Communicate the proposed design solutions to the stakeholders and help to guide decisions regarding tradeoffs that may impact the requirement or delivery timescales for infrastructure solutions
  • To provide technical advice to Information Management (IM) colleagues on the use of the IT Infrastructure and integration of various business applications onto the Cathay Pacific Infrastructure
  • Shows initiative and makes time available to ensure general technical competencies and specializations are kept up-to-date in line with industry developments for self and team
  • Collaborate with other IM domains to drive business and technology innovation
  • Keep abreast of the corporate strategy, business plan and latest industry trends
Job Requirements :
  • Technical degree holder with minimum of 10 years IT experience, at least 5 years of IT Infrastructure experience and 3 years of team lead responsibility
  • Ability to allocate and supervise delivery of work within a small team (5 to 10) of technical resources
  • Will have experience of leading a team, and be able to demonstrate an effective coaching and mentoring style
  • Must have proven technical management and specialist experience of working in a complex IT infrastructure environment
  • Must have professional competency in at least one technical specialization, with a broad understanding of other current and emerging technologies
  • Must have experience of developing solutions and making decisions for a team with only minimal management guidance and supervision
  • Must have experience of building and maintaining relationships at a senior level and have an ability to influence at all levels
  • Must have knowledge of how to lever technology to reduce operational costs and delivery business innovation in a fast moving and dynamic industry sector
  • Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally, and in the written form, to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver presentations
  • Ability to work well with others and as part of a technical team
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, decision-making and critical thinking skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills; ability to identify patterns and generate informed ideas
  • Focus on the business / end user’s or customer’s needs; ability to set expectations and understand end user behaviour
  • Ability and willingness to proactively accept and drive change to accomplish positive collective outcomes
  • Ability to understand strategy and align tactical and strategic work in a well-balanced way to achieve results
Technical Requirements:
  • Subject Matter Expert level knowledge of at least one of the following, plus experience of at least two others:
  • Server infrastructure running Unix (IBM AIX / Sun Solaris), Linux, vmware and Windows. IBM P-series, Sun M-series and Intel x86 hardware knowledge; HA or Clustering technology using IBM HACMP, PowerHA, Windows Clusters, VMware HA, & Oracle RAC
  • Storage and backup – enterprise tier 1 / 2 / 3, SAN and NAS; Backup solution with NetWorker / NetBakcup / VTL Technology
  • Application layer – WebSphere Portal / Process / Application Server, Tuxedo, ESB, SOA, WebSphere Datapower
  • Messaging – WebSphere MQ, MQSI (Broker), Datapower, B2B and Connect:Direct
  • Database – Oracle. In depth knowledge of Oracle Enterprise database (any 9i to 11g Oracle). Required knowledge of any of the following functions: database build; instance creation; schema creation; advanced SQL scripting; performance tuning. RAC / Dataguard / Grid Control components an advantage
  • Database – Microsoft SQLserver
  • Identity and Access Management – Active Directory / LDAP, role based access control
  • Data Networks – IP routing / switching / VPN / proxy / content switches / firewalls / VoIP / Load Balancer / Mobile & WIFI Technology
  • Unified Communications – VoIP, mobility, own device integration, presence
  • End User Computing – MS Exchange / sharepoint / Citrix / MS client and office software, collaboration tools, mobility, virtual desktop (Citrix or vmware)
  • Systems management – systems monitoring, reporting and control with popular monitoring tools such as HP Site Scope / ITCAM / OpNet / Oracle Cloud Control
  • Security – access control, encryption, Payments, authentication, intrusion detection and prevention
  • Datawarehouse and Business Information - Informatica / Cognos BI
