Description/Tasks
  • Participates in developing certifiable technical solutions through the performance of drawings, engineering documents, reports and testing and provides general engineering support upon request under the direct supervision of a Senior Engineer or Engineering Supervisor
  • Prepare engineering drawings and documents to comply with all recognized safety, certification and customer requirements under the supervision of a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer or Engineering Supervisor
  • Participate in project aircraft evaluation to develop functional group workscope for engineering project management approval
  • Review aircraft configuration in order to check workscope feasibility, accuracy and completeness
  • Update the status of the technical proposals & studies on the quote documentation as required
  • Provide input to the senior engineer so as to complete a drawing release plan for a specific task / project
  • Participate and/or witness tests and prepare the corresponding reports as required
  • Provide input to the senior engineer so as to update the status of the project on the project status sheet as required
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities in reference to the project, Jet Aviation Basel and General Dynamics business and corporate policies and objectives
  • Identify any process deviation in reference to the project, JBSL and GD business and corporate policies and objectives
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives, to simplify process and value added work
  • Participate as a team or project member for other projects requiring engineering participation as required
  • Comply with the current working and safety regulations
  • Provide engineering support as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by functional or project engineering management

Stress, Mass & Balance Engineer specific tasks:
  • Conduct stress analysis of assemblies related to structural components, cabin equipment and systems (static, fatigue and damage tolerance) using hand calculations and/or FEM method
  • Prepare and/or check structural substantiation reports, test plans and test reports
  • Perform the stress check of technical structural drawings
  • Estimate the mass of new cabin monuments and build-up of aircraft estimated loading in conjunction with the mechanical and electrical engineers
  • Prepare and/or check weight and balance reports and prepare the load and trim sheets
  • Calculate shear loads

Qualification/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Aviation) or Technician with at least three years experience in a Technician 2 position
  • General knowledge of the Aviation Regulations (EASA and/or FAA)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, forward thinking and self motivated team player
  • Very good level in English
  • German and French would be beneficial
