Job Description :
This role is available to Hong Kong residents or to those who have the right to work in Hong Kong.

As a key member of the BI Competence Centre (BICC), responsible for designing Enterprise Data Warehouse data structures, integration and data quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with other teams on new BI project concepts solution design and support business case development.
  • Oversee implementation of data model designs during project execution and engage with development teams as necessary to ensure quality
  • Analyse data structures and existing usage patterns, including reverse engineering query sql, optimise/re-design the data model as necessary
  • Data Integration: Deploy and use data integration tools (e.g. ETL) to implement best practice data acquisition, transformation, movement and delivery
  • Create, document, reconcile and maintain logical and physical data models, reflecting the state and use of data across the business.
  • Capture, integrate ad publish descriptive metadata across the various applications and tools (modelling, integration and more) in the environment.
  • Data quality definition and management – analyze and measure data-quality levels, identify data quality issues; work with users and other IT functions to improve data quality.
  • As part of the BICC Core Team, contribute to develop the overall strategic plan and priorities for how Cathay Pacific can, and should, support business intelligence and performance management.
  • Ensure new BI applications integrate and comply with the BI architecture
  • Collaborate with EPMO to implement a light-weight project management practice across all small scale BI projects
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Testing team to define the quality assurance test plans that meet the company practise and standard
  • Collaborate with other IM domains to drive business and technology innovation
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends in BI technologies and practice, technologies on  application integration, process management and service-orientated application development
  • Keep abreast of the business strategy, business plan and latest industrial trends.
Job Requirements :
  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree (or equivalent education qualifications) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines
  • Proven experience in applying Software Engineering best practices and techniques such as structured analysis, use cases and formal estimation
  • Proven experience in managing a team of technology professionals (that include in-house, external, off-shore resources) to run strategic IT projects
  • Essential to have strong understanding of Database concepts and competence in SQL (preferably Oracle PL/SQL)
  • Essential to have understanding and experience with dimensional modelling concepts (star schema, slowly changing dimensions etc.)
  • Experience with BI Tools and technologies (data modelling, data integration/ETL, reporting, metadata management, data quality management, data mining, corporate performance management etc.)
  • Experience with data integration ETL Informatica and BI Cognos is an advantage
  • Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally and in written formats to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills; promoting healthy relationships and team dynamics
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting skills; ability to identify patterns and generate ideas
  • Focus on the end user’s or customer’s needs; ability to set expectations and understand end user behaviour
  • Solid experience in business analysis, software development and project management
  • Good understanding of technology concepts, trends and capabilities
