Royal Jordanian Announce an Increase in the Number of Passenger by 28 Percent during February
Tuesday, 13 March 2012
Amman,  Royal Jordanian announced it flew 240,000 passengers in February 2012, marking a 28% increase compared to 188,000 passengers during February 2011. The number of departures and flight hours witnessed an increase of 9.3% and the seat factor increase of 7.5%,  achieving an average 70% comparing with 65% during the same month in 2011.

Hussein Dabbas  Royal Jordanian's President and Chief Executive Officer, attributed this rise in the number of passengers during February, which is considered one of the slowest in terms of the travel, to the success of the promotion plan designed by the company in the current year to increase sales, enhance revenues and face the challenges the company witnessed last year.

Dabbas  was in an upbeat mood for Royal Jordanian ability to achieve favorable results in March and the coming months. He stressed the huge challenge that still confronts the company is the cost of fuel. The fuel bill paid by the Royal Jordanian during February reached JD20.3 million, compared to JD16.6 million paid in the comparison period last year, marking a 22% increase.

Dabbas continued that "Royal Jordanian has developed a specific strategy to increase revenues and reduce costs caused by the sharp increase in fuel prices during this year. Specifically, it suspended operations to some destinations and cancelled many flights, in addition to stopping capital purchases and employment, and following a clear policy to control cost without affecting the level of services provided to passengers".

Royal Jordanian transported 268,000 passengers during January 2012, compared to 213,000 in the same period in 2011, marking a 25% increase.
