Royal Jordanian Diverts Several Flights to Aqaba due to Dusty Weather
Wednesday, 30 October 2013
In a press statement, Royal Jordanian said it today it diverted several flights scheduled to land at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) to King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba due to heavy dust and sand in the area surrounding QAIA.

The flights were arriving from Aden, Dubai, Delhi, Basra, Sulaymaniyah, Cairo, Beirut and Abu Dhabi, according to an airline press release.

Royal Jordanian flights were unable to land at QAIA or Marka Civil Airport due to the unstable weather conditions and the heavy dust over Amman, which lowered the visibility below the levels required for landing.

The airline said that the flights returned to QAIA in the afternoon with all passengers onboard.
