Hannover, MTU Maintenance Hannover is pleased to welcome back a valued former customer: Royal Jordanian Airlines, one of the most prestigious airlines in the Middle East, has awarded the Langenhagen-based company an exclusive contract for the maintenance of 26 V2500 engines from its fleet of A320-family aircraft.

The contract will run until March 2014. Royal Jordanian used to be a regular customer of the MRO (maintenance, repair and over-haul) services provider way back in the 1980s, when the shop supported the RB211 engines powering its Lockheed TriStar airliners. More recently, the airline had had a first-hand opportunity to find out more about the capabilities and expertise MTU's maintenance arm is offering today: MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg, a sister company of MTU Maintenance Hannover, had been performing maintenance on the carrier's CF34-10s and provide on-site support for this engine type.

Royal Jordanian, which is a private company, was established in 1963 as the national air carrier of Jordan. Its vision is to be the airline of choice connecting Jordan and the Levant with the world. The airline is located in the heart of the capital, Amman, and its flights are operated from Queen Alia International Airport to 58 destinations spread across four conti-nents. Its modern fleet consists of 30 aircraft; 12 of which are from the A320 family. Royal Jordanian is a member of the oneworld airline alliance, along with other big names from the air transport industry. The company continuously reviews its plans to improve its air and ground services, broaden its route network and modernize its fleet. 

MTU Maintenance is the largest independent provider of commercial engine maintenance services worldwide and operates affiliates in all of the major regions and markets around the globe. MTU Maintenance Hannover, the group's flagship company, specializes in the repair and overhaul of medium- and large-scale commercial engines, among them the Gen-eral Electric (GE) CF6-50 and CF6-80C2, the Pratt & Whitney PW2000, the International Aero Engines (IAE) V2500, and the CFM International CFM56-7. Alongside technical repair offerings, including sophisticated repair techniques, the company also provides addi-tional services like technical logistic support, customer training, financing and 24-hour service availability. The company's new test cell accommodates engines delivering up to 150,000 pounds of thrust.
