Austrian Airlines and Germanwings Consolidate Relationship with Codesharing
Wednesday, 18 April 2012
Cologne/Bonn, Vienna, since their business partnership initiated during  December 2011, Austrian Airlines and Germanwings – both subsidiaries of Lufthansa, have solidified their relationship with codeshare flights.

All Germanwings flights between Germany and Austria will in future bear an Austrian OS flight number. The airlines' codesharing is part of a joint strategy to further connect the services offered by both brands to create "added benefits" to the clients of both airlines.

The two airlines have scheduled five daily passengers flights from Vienna to Cologne and vice versa instead of the three offered previously, in addition to the seven daily connections to Stuttgart. Non-stop Germanwings flights with OS flight numbers are now also offered from Salzburg and Klagenfurt to Cologne.

Thomas Winkelmann, spokesperson for the management of Germanwings, in Cologne said: “This closer cooperation with Austrian Airlines will make Germanwings even more attractive to clients. The changeover possibilities at Vienna Airport in particular multiply the travel possibilities for our passengers,”

Karsten Benz, Chief Commercial Officer of Austrian Airlines, added: “This cooperation means that the clients of both airlines will benefit. We can now, for example, offer our clients more connections from Vienna to Cologne and Stuttgart and even a new connection to Hannover under an OS flight number.”
