Cargolux Achieves Cargo 2000 Platinum Membership Status

Luxembourg, Cargo 2000 (C2K) an industry group within IATA, consisting of some 80 major airlines, freight forwarders, ground handling agents, trucking companies and IT providers. Announced today at its annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that Cargolux Airlines International S.A. has gained C2K platinum membership status 2012.

The cargo operator joined the club of seven C2K members that have reached this level of C2K’s new classification system.

The goal of the new membership classification is to move air-cargo organizations toward full integration of Cargo 2000. It consists of four different categories of membership based on a point system that objectively measures a company’s integration of Cargo 2000 into its daily business processes:
  • Member (0 to 30 points)
  • Silver (31 to 50 points)
  • Gold (51 to 80 points)
  • Platinum (81 or more points)

The Quality Organization for the air freight industry

Cargo 2000 is an industry initiative aiming at implementing a new quality management system for the worldwide air cargo industry. The objective is simple: to implement processes, backed by quality standards, which are measurable to improve the efficiency of air cargo.

Cargo 2000 re-engineers the air cargo transportation scheme from shipper to consignee. Individual processes in the supply chain are reduced from 40 to just 19, cutting down on operational costs and enhancing customer service.
