MTU Maintenance Hannover Completes the Repair of 3,000th IAE V2500 Engine

Hanover, Germany, MTU Maintenance Hannover has repaired the group’s 3,000th IAE V2500 engine. It was delivered to US aircraft lessor International Lease Finance Corp (ILFC).

MTU Maintenance is in the market for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services regarding this engine type. Co-developed by MTU Aero Engines, the IAE V2500 powers mainly the Airbus 320 family of aircraft.

ILFC, a wholly owned subsidiary of American International Group, Inc., is an independent aircraft lessor. ILFC’s portfolio consists of over 1,000 owned or managed aircraft, as well as commitments to purchase 245 new high-demand, fuel-efficient aircraft and rights to purchase an additional 50 such aircraft.

The V2500 engine is designed and manufactured by IAE - International Aero Engines AG, an international partnership of aerospace corporations including Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, Japanese Aero Engine Corporation and MTU Aero Engines. V2500 engines is in the 22,000 to 33,000 pound thrust range.

Egon Behle from MTU Aero Engines AG (MTU) is on the borad of directors of IAE - International Aero Engines AG, together with Kazuaki Kama, of Japanese Aero Engines Corporation (JAEC), Mariel Hoch, of Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International GmbH (PWAEI) and David Hess, (chairman) of Pratt & Whitney.
