Two Airbus A330s and an Embraer 175 will join the fleet this year
Monday, 22 March 2010
Amman, Two new Airbus A330s will join the Royal Jordanian fleet to serve the growing number of flights to the Far East destinations and the London route.  And in the last quarter of this year, a new Embraer 175 aircraft will also be added to the fleet to meet the large increase in the number of flights the airline runs to regional stations. RJ operates seven regional jets of Embraer 195 and 175 type.

RJ President/CEO Hussein Dabbas said that introducing the two Airbus A330s to the fleet, which includes 29 aircraft, comes to cover part of the RJ route network in light of delays in the delivery of 11 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which will start joining the fleet in 2013. The B787s were scheduled to join the airline at the beginning of 2011.

Dabbas pointed out that the two wide-bodied, less-than-one-year-old aircraft seat 283 passengers; 24 of them are business class. They also provide optimal comfort to passengers in terms of seat pitch and in-flight entertainment system on both business and economy class. The aircraft will be equipped with Audio-Video On Demand (AVOD) system, available to all passengers, whereby each can choose from a wide selection of programs and watch it on his/her screen.

Dabbas also announced that on March 28, RJ will inaugurate its direct, regular service to Madinah, Saudi Arabia, in light of the studies that show the importance of serving Hajj and Umrah pilgrims directly from Amman to Madinah.

Flights will also be resumed to the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur at the beginning of June this year, in light of the signs of recovery and increase in tourism and commercial activity to Malaysia, which is considered a family tourist attraction to the Arab countries.

The three weekly flights to Kuala Lumpur will be operated via Bangkok using the Airbus A330s. The new aircraft will also be operated four times a week to Hong Kong via Bangkok, three times a week to Colombo and daily to London
