Guideline® ColourFit floor-path markings for Etihad fleet
Friday, 18 September 2009

Abu Dhabi, Lufthansa Technik was chosen by Etihad Airways to retrofit the airline’s whole fleet with the non-electric emergency floorpath guidance system “Guideline® ColourFit”. Last year, Lufthansa Technik has already equipped Boeing 777 accordingly.

Five more 777 will follow now, as well as the whole Airbus A320-, A330- and A340-fleet.

Christian Lierow, Head of Product Guideline® at Lufthansa Technik, said on the occasion of contract signing: “We are proud that our floor-path guidance system has been selected by such a renowned airline like Etihad to retrofit the whole fleet. At the same time does this latest success document the outstanding quality of Guideline®.”

Based on a photoluminescent principle, Guideline® ColourFit shows the way to emergency exits in the event of a failure of the cabin lighting system. The worldwide success of Guideline® ColourFit is based on several features: It is 100 percent failure-proven, has unlimited lifespan and is more luminescent than comparable products. Additionally, a regular check by the cabin staff is not necessary. Guideline® ColourFit has been granted Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) by the EASA and the FAA and can be installed on all commercial aircraft.

Since Guideline® ColourFit is available in various colors, it can be optimally adapted to the color scheme of aircraft carpeting and cabin furnishings. It only requires 15 to 30 minutes of cabin light to charge the system for a 12-hour flight. The material, which stores the light and then disperses it gradually, is non-radio-active, has low flammability and is entirely non-toxic. The light-storing process can be repeated infinitely. Other than routine cleaning, no maintenance is required.
